Mr Lee Ark Boon of the Manpower Ministry (MOM), says Singapore’s manpower crunch is “fundamentally a long-term issue” caused by a shrinking local labour force. “We have come to a point where our local working-age population is expected to start growing at a slower rate, and will eventually start to shrink within the next decade.”
To help our members to better position themselves and reach out to the potential job seekers, ASPRI-IPI together with WDA and Career Center, CaliberLink, organized a Industry Preview cum Networking Event for Engineering Services on 20 June 13. The event was catered specially for the experienced PMEs looking for career switch from other industries to join the Process Engineering Services industry. Attracting more than 30 interested job seekers, around 30-45 years old with at least 5 years or more working experiences in Manufacturing, Marine and Ship Building or Construction industries, the job seekers attend the event despite of a Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) reading of 371.
Three hiring member companies namely Rotary Engineering Ltd, Shao Fook Engineering Pte Ltd and Kah Lam Hardware Engineering Pte Ltd, presented and shared with the job seekers their organization’s structure, business operation and more importantly their quests in the Process Industry.
ASPRI-IPI, as the conduit to match the job seekers and the hiring member companies, received warmth appreciation and positive feedback from all stakeholders, will continue to organize such events to help the Process Industry to build a progressive and resilience Singaporean core workforce.
