COC IN PAINTING & BLASTING L1 PT&R (PROFICIENCY TEST & REFRESHER)

Introduction

This course is designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills required for blasting and painting work in industrial settings. Participants will learn how to perform surface preparation using hand tools, power tools, and dry blasting techniques, as well as apply protective coatings through spray painting. Emphasis is placed on safety, equipment setup, and quality control to ensure that all work meets international standards and specifications for corrosion protection and surface finishing.

Course Information

The job roles(s) / occupations that this unit would be relevant to may include blaster, painter across all process sectors, who are required to carry out painting and blasting works.
Course Aim
A blaster and painter is the one who performs surface preparation using hand tools, power tools, dry blasting and applies coating on treated metal surface using spray painting to prevent surface corrosion and enhance surface finishing so that finished products meet the required international standards and specification.

Learning Objectives
This course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to perform surface preparation using hand tools, power tools, dry blasting, and applies coating on treated metal surface spray painting to prevent surface corrosion and enhance surface finishing so that finished products meet the required international standards.
1. Maintain safe working environment. 

2. Prepare ventilation for blasting / painting

3. Check the condition of blasting equipment and accessories.

4. Set up blasting equipment and accessories.

5. Prepare surface before blasting.

6. Perform surface preparation.

7. Perform function test on blasting system.

8. Perform abrasive blasting.

9. Check blasted surface.

10. Perform cleaning maintenance on blasting equipment and accessories.

11. Set up spray painting equipment and accessories.

12. Perform mixing of paints.

13. Perform painting on metal surface.

14. Perform cleaning.
Duration: 7 hours (4 training hours + 3 assessment hours) (Learners must attain 100% attendance to be eligible for the course assessment)
